When someone you know and care about has experienced a loss it is often hard to know what to say or do. In our world of technology, an appropriately worded text is a great way to reach out and let your person know you are there, you care and that they are loved and supported.
Here are 15 therapist approved messages you could use:
- I know this is hard and I love you.
- I know you’re going through a tough time. I went through something similar. I’m going to check in with you…and I’m here.
- I heard about your loss, and I know that you’re going through a difficult time right now. I’m here.
- I can’t imagine how you must be feeling. If you need anything or need a listening ear, please let me know.
- Can I get you anything?
- Want to talk?
- I’m sending you some food. Do you like pepperoni pizza?
- I’m going to drop off a casserole and a candle on your porch. Much love. I’m here for you.
- I am running errands what is on your list, and I’ll pick it up and drop it off. We don’t have to talk. I can just leave and go! (Unless you want to talk, of course 😊)
- How can I help you?
- I thought I’d come by and mow your grass!
- I know a bit about what you are going through and am here if you want to talk.
- I’m dropping off a coffee. If you are up for company, just let me know. Otherwise, I’ll leave outside you door!
- You don’t have to feel guilty if you feel some relief.
