5 Tips for a Dry January!

Are you onboard for trying Dry January?  Good for you!  There are lots of great reasons to give yourself a break from booze.  It’s a great chance to reset, reboot for 2023!  A 31-one day booze fast can do a lot of good.  From better sleep to clearer skin to less inflammation and bloating, taking a break has a lot of potential benefits.

  • Prep your house and your head

Remove alcohol from easy access so you’re not tempted.  And be sure to pass by the alcohol aisle on your weekly grocery trip.

  • Think about what you’ll say to others

Spend a little time coming up with what you will say to family, friends, and co-workers when you are in a situation where drinks may be offered or plentiful and you could be tempted.  “Hey, thanks for the offer, but I’m giving Dry January a shot!”  You can always make an excuse and walk away if the conversation gets a little high pressured.

  • Journal and Reflect

Think about why you’re tackling this challenge.  Give yourself a chance to think about your relationship with alcohol.  Ponder the positive benefits you hope to see from taking a short break. 

  • Get an accountability partner

A pal who wants to join in the challenge can be a great support for the 31 days that are ahead of you, and you can cheer each other on. 

  • Don’t quit, even if you slip

You’ve got this!  And if you slip up, just pick back up where you left off.
